Letter from the Board President

As Board President of Central Virginia Housing, I am honored to serve an organization dedicated to one of the most fundamental needs we all share: a safe, stable place to call home. Housing is more than just a roof overhead—it is the foundation upon which families build their lives. When individuals and families have stable housing, they are better positioned to raise children, pursue educational opportunities, maintain employment, contribute to their communities, and ultimately flourish as people.

Our mission has never been more important. Across our region, the need for affordable housing continues to grow, impacting families from all walks of life. Ensuring that housing remains attainable is essential to maintaining a strong and vibrant community. Affordable housing allows the people who serve our neighborhoods every day—our police officers, firefighters, healthcare professionals, teachers, and service workers—to live in the communities where they work. These individuals are critical to our local economy and quality of life, and we must continue to create opportunities that make housing accessible to them.

As we look to the future, I believe Central Virginia Housing is poised to move boldly forward. While we remain deeply committed to our longstanding Housing Choice Voucher Program and the thousands of residents it supports, we are also focused on expanding our impact. One of our key priorities is increasing the supply of affordable rental housing throughout our region. By working collaboratively with local governments, developers, community organizations, and private-sector partners, we can help create more housing options that meet the needs of today’s workforce and families.

This work cannot be accomplished by any one organization alone. It requires a community-wide commitment and a shared belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live in safe, affordable housing. I encourage our partners, stakeholders, and community members to join us in this effort. Whether through financial contributions, volunteer service, advocacy, or partnership opportunities, your involvement can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors.
